The Studio and Property
Running Creek Ranch is on the picturesque Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. Running Creek actually flows through it to the Maroochy River. We live in the haven that coastal Australia is known for – surrounded by farmland yet only thirty minutes from the white sand beaches.
The property had previously been used for cultivating bananas and fruit, along with milling of the timber. This area was known for its straight, tall trees and good timber. Consequently, the legacy of the land is one of prosperity and biodiversity. We still have a good portion of subtropical rain forest on the property, and gorgeous pairs of big Black Cockatoos visit our native Banksia Trees regularly, eating the Banksia Cones.
The Studio is rustic and was once used as a banana packing shed. Repurposing recycled and original materials, it has been transformed into a practical and inspiring studio and bunkhouse. Using my interior design background, I have been able to make a simple yet functional space feel warm and peaceful.
The vision for the property has always been one of retreat and quiet inspiration. I am amazed at the abundance of beauty and wonder in our small slice of paradise here amongst the gums and wattle. To look out my window and see the big liquid eyes of my horses looking back at me, or have my dog waiting for me on the porch gives me such contentment and happiness.
